jorud & elo elo – “Wideview”

Last week we wrote about how jorud, the solo-project endeavor of Jared Lim, released the title track of his new album, The song. Well, it seems like he’s back again this week with a track that’s almost the complete sonic opposite of that blissful lead single.
“Wideview” finds the musician venturing into a more energetic EDM-hyperpop territory, gathering stabby kickbeats to build up the song to a cathartic stomach-churning fakeout drop before blasting off again. Featuring elo elo’s saccharine vocals (side note: their debut EP, which I’m only now discovering, also came out this year… and it’s real good!), “Wideview” is a another brilliant showcase of Lim’s expanding production style… and it’s also a masterclass in teaching you how to spell the word “wideview” in different ways. Don’t let the chaos consume you! Expect to hear this on a sweaty dancefloor somewhere.
We normally don’t make two posts about the same artist in such quick succession, but what can I say? I’m a fan.
jorud’s album The song will be released on July 17th. Talk about a quick turnaround!
